How it works

If you live in an area with residential fiber optics connection available (for example, Verizon FIOS or PAXIO, or anything else from 20 Mbps), you can become a node operator. Get free lightning speed connection, earn some money and participate in profit sharing.

Here is how it works.

We ship you a toaster size appliance (QNAP TS-509 Turbo NAS). You plug it in (power and network) and start receiving monthly payments. There is nothing else to do.

If you run a web site, it will not be affected, as we do not use default http/https ports.

See sample contract below, which essentially says that we lease bandwidth from you.

Bandwidth Lease Agreement

This lease agreement is made and entered into this __ day of _________, 2009, by and between RussArt LLC, whose address is 1076 Carol Ln #10 Lafayette CA 94549 (hereinafter referred to as "Lessee") and __________ whose address is _________________ (hereinafter referred to as "Lessor").

The parties hereto hereby agree as follows:

1. Subject

Lessor leases extra Internet bandwidth to Lessee. Lessee uses the bandwidth by connecting a NAS appliance, which he supplies. Lessor provides space, power, and connectivity for the NAS appliance. Occasionally Lessor can be required to provide basic maintenance (reboot, HDD replacement, or the like). Lessor does not have access to the contents of the NAS appliance and carries no responsibility regarding this contents. Connectivity includes shared and not in any way restricted up- and downstream bandwidth, and standard open ports for http*, ftp, and ssh protocols. Lessor either provides a separate external IP address for the NAS appliance or maintains router configuration (NAT), which maps the above ports to the NAS appliance's ports.

2. Term

The term of this agreement is unlimited. Agreement can be terminated by either party with one month notice. Lessor returns the NAS appliance to Lessee by mail. Shipping cost is paid by Lessee.

3. Rent

Lessee pays Lessor for each month of services provided, on the first day of next month, $150 (one hundred fifty dollars) via PayPal.

4. Modification

The parties hereby agree that this document contains the entire agreement between the parties and this Agreement shall not be modified, changed, altered or amended in any way except through a written amendment signed by all of the parties hereto.

5. Indemnification

Lessee agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Lessor and its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against all damages, costs, judgments and other expenses arising out of or on account of any claim alleging that the leased bandwidth was used to violate any state, US or international law.

* We do not need HTTP default port 80, so if you run a web site, it will not be affected.
